Dead Shaft Roll

Dead shaft rollers are rolls where the central shaft is free to rotate. Many rollers less than 3 feet in width are of the dead shaft design. With a dead shaft roll the shaft is typicall steel. The roll shell is typically made from aluminum, carbon steel or stainless steel. The shell is bored on the ID and machined on the roll OD to achieve good concentricity. The design of the shaft mount needs to only hold the shaft from shifting or rotating.
